Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care Cardiology

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. The NP/PA will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, caring for patients ranging in age. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
The Cardiology Ward Service is comprised of 1.5 Cardiologists and 7 Acute Care Cardiology Advanced Practitioners that round mainly on the non-ICU patients, facilitates the discharging of patients, performing history and physicals, as well as consults. Our inpatient census averages 45 60+ patients. This team is instrumental in providing timely and efficient care, as well as ensuring that quality and core measure metrics are met at a high standard.
In this role you would rotate covering Inpatient and Outpatient EP Services, in addition to outpatient Cardiology Procedural Patients. This includes: Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE), Direct Current Cardioversion (DCCV), Right Heath Catherization (RHC), Electrophysiology Studies and Ablations for Atrial Fibrillation/Atrial Flutter, Supraventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Tachycardia, Implantable Defibrillator (ID), DFT Testing, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Mitra Clip, and Watchman.
Once fully trained, you would have the ability to see patients on your own, however, it is always under collaboration of the attending Cardiologist.
This position does not have Call, but staff rotate helping to round on the weekends with the Cardiologist. On the weekends, the Cardiology Ward team is comprised of 1 non-invasive and 1 Interventional Cardiologist along with the Cardiology Advanced Practice Clinician (NP/PA). The typical rotation once fully staffed is one every 8 to 9 weekends.
1. Masters or Doctorate degree in Nursing or masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
1. Current licensure as a registered nurse in Minnesota (if applicable)
2. Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Minnesota
3. Current certification in CPR.
4. National certification, in applicable area.
5. Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
