The Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center has been recognized as one of the “Top 50 Best Hospitals” by US News & World Reports, and it is ranked #1 Hospital in the state of Wisconsin for Cardiac Care. Since 1968, Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center has been a leader in cardiac and transplant surgery. We've performed over 900 heart transplants since the program began in 1984. We have also done over 850 mechanical circulatory support devices since our first implant in 1986. This is a very high volume center with over 35 transplants and over 50 VAD’s per year. Achieving these milestones firmly places our program among the top 10% nationwide and the largest in the state of Wisconsin. The fellowship program is very progressive with a structured curriculum and emphasis on personalized patient care skills, developing leadership skills, and research. The fellowship program is designed to provide widespread clinical and academic education that covers a collegial working relationship with a dedicated team of 11 Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologists and Thoracic Surgeons. There is emphasis on the management of patients with advanced heart failure and pre and post-operative management of heart transplant patients and LVAD patients. Our program also includes hands-on management of ventricular assist devices and long-term management of transplant patients.
