Meadville Medical Center is a 235 bed regional medical center with a service area of 100,000 offering our community members the highest quality medical treatment and patient care. We have a medical staff of over 140 representing 37 medical and surgical specialties. With the recent completion of our surgical services facilities, MMC boasts 12 state-of-the-art surgical suites as well as a newly renovated 28 bed ambulatory surgery center in addition to our 16 bed inpatient surgery center. We are currently pursuing level 3 trauma certification. Teaching opportunities are available through our Osteopathic Family and Manipulative Medicine residency program. The acute care facility provides the newest technology for diagnostic, surgical, obstetrical and emergency services; while the non-acute facility offers inpatient mental health, drug and alcohol rehab, transitional care and a comprehensive pain management clinic. Our radiology department features state of the art equipment and physicians well trained in interventional procedures. In the spring of 2008, Meadville Medical Center opened the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, an exceptional comprehensive cancer care facility that has been designed around the concept of treating the whole person mind, body and spirit. In February, 2010, The Women's Diagnostic Center opened and boasts cutting edge digital mammography and MRI guided biopsies. Meadville Medical Center services most of Crawford County and is located in close proximity to Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Cleveland. With a rich and diverse history, the picturesque downtown district of Meadville is listed on the National Register of Historic places. Noted for outdoor recreation, Crawford County boasts six lakes, several state parks and woodlands that offer year-round recreation including hunting, fishing, skiing, power and sail boating. Dozens of local golf courses in the area take advantage the stunning hills and various landscapes. Allegheny College, a private liberal arts college, is located in Meadville and adds a significant cultural and educational facet to the community.
