Position Summary
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for the practice of skilled care through implementation of the nursing process. This position may require working all shifts.

Surgical Services Specialist - Orthopedic

Position Summary
The Operating Room Surgical Services Specialist works closely with the Clinical Manager and is primarily responsible for the coordination of activities within the appropriate service line. These activities include, but are not limited to, procedure set-up and breakdown, troubleshooting equipment, staff education, trial evaluation, budget requests and item acquisition, checking accuracy of booked cases, preference card management, and process improvements. The Surgical Services Specialist will take direction from the Clinical Manager to fulfill specific specialty needs. The Surgical Services Specialist will also assist Clinical Manager in planning and facilitating staff meetings and staff development. The role is expected to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of nurses, techs, surgeons, vendors, and various departments to ensure smooth operations and seamless patient care.

Position Summary
Performs first scrub role on core cases of assigned services. Directly assists the surgeon by passing sterile instruments and supplies at the sterile field. Demonstrates ability to anticipate surgeon's requests on core cases of assigned services, expediting the process of surgery and improving patient outcomes. Shares responsibility with the RN for countable items at the field. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and uses in the Operating Room. Assists with the mixing and administration of heparin, local anesthesia, radiology contrast dyes, antibiotic solutions, Papaverin, Thrombin, Properly labels all medication on the sterile field. Able to meet the specific care need of the patient as relates to the patient's age group. When performing second scrub role, responsibilities including holding retractors, sponging or suctioning the operative site as directed by the surgeon. Understand and properly uses instrumentation/equipment, considering the maintenance, safety and availability. Participates in the teaching of staff and students appropriate to ones experience.

Education: Knowledge of aseptic technique and operating room standards and procedures, acquired through completion of course in an approved school of Surgical Technology.
License/Certifications: Certification required within 6 months of employment or at the discretion of the Department Director.

Ability to stand continually for several hours, and move, position, transport patients stretchers, equipment and etc.

Position Summary

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute and apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Affiliation with Association of Surgical Technologies preferred.
