Hospitalist 7x7 Evenings - Milford Hospital

Hospitalist Service job descriptions have been standardized across the Yale New Haven Health System. It is acknowledged and agreed that each delivery network will have variations in physician responsibilities in order to support patient needs, provider complement, teaching programs, and requirements/bylaws of each delivery network. Physician responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the responsibilities listed below. The primary function of the Physician working for the Hospitalist Service is to provide comprehensive care to medicine inpatients and as applicable, in collaboration with Physician Assistants (PA), Nurse Practitioners (NP), Associate Director(s), Director and/or Manager of the Hospitalist Service.

Responsibilities


- 1.Clinical Practice:

- 1.1Provides care to medicine inpatients assigned to the Hospitalist Service, ensuring safe, high quality, patient-centered and efficient care.

- 2.Education

- 2.1Identifies information needs of team members, patients and families. Regularly provides related teaching and education to unit nurses and as applicable, to PAs/NPs, medical students, residents, and students from APP programs (PA or APRN).

- 3.Quality Improvement/Customer Satisfaction

- 3.1Participates in team-based quality improvement and patient/customer satisfaction initiatives.

- 4.Patient Safety

- 4.1Practices medicine in a manner which maximizes patient safety.

- 5.Operations

- 5.1Follows all NEMG and respective hospital entity policies and procedures.


Qualifications


EDUCATION

M.D./D.O degree, full residency training and Board eligibility/certification in internal medicine/family practice mandatory. Must have attending medical staff privileges at respective YNHHS entity.

EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years caring for medicine inpatients as resident and/or attending physician.

LICENSURE

Hold a valid Connecticut medical license, Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration and Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certification.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Excellent clinical, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work independently.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Hours can vary as per shift if per diem or by role designated by Hospital Leadership

Responsible for providing appropriate non-surgical primary and continuing care to all patients in Northeast Medical Group, as well as leadership, coordination, and administration duties. Qualifications


EDUCATION

(number of years and type required to perform the position duties): Degree of MD or DO with ABIM-recognized internal medicine residency (three years minimum) or ABFM-recognized family medicine residency (three years minimum)

EXPERIENCE

(number of years and type required to meet an acceptable level of performance): Preferred: Professional clinical experience in primary care practice, either family medicine or internal medicine

LICENSURE

Valid American Board certification in either internal medicine or family medicine and renewed (if needed) prior to expiration Valid and unrestricted Connecticut medical license BLS certification Valid DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate

SPECIAL SKILLS

Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment. Ability to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality patient care. Ability to receive detailed information and express and exchange ideas orally. Ability to perform under stress. Possesses excellent written and oral communication, listening and social skills. EDUCATION

MD, DO or equivalent; successful completion of internal medicine residency and pulmonary-critical care and sleep fellowship in accredited programs; 5 years of post-fellowship practice in puolmonary-critical care diseases and sleep medicine, board certification or eligable internal medicine and pulmonary-critical care medicine and sleep medicine.

SPECIAL SKILLS

All those procedures expected of a clinical pulmonologist/critical care physician, as well as sleep medicine.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged. Significant call and clinical responsibility committment during time spent as MICU attending.
