Advanced Practitioner Role Summary
Nurse Practitioners (APRN) / Physician Assistants provide direct lactation support and education to patients and staff to ensure that a high quality, cost effective service is delivered. Advanced Practitioners are responsible for providing comprehensive, advanced, and specialized health services across the continuum of the patients lactation experience. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with the Labor and Delivery, Maternity, and Women's health and ambulatory health services. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to patient and staff education, consultation and partnerships with health care resources and others within our organization, network and community.

Hartford Healthcare employs more than 300 Advanced Practitioners at the Hartford Hospital campus, and has developed the Office of Advanced Practice (OAP), one of the first nationally, to provide:

Operational support to inpatient and outpatient practice settings
A resource for Advanced Practice including compliance, scope of practice, staffing/utilization, and regulatory issues.
Advanced Practice professional development
A comprehensive and competitive compensation structure
Continuing education opportunities
Credentialing and privileging support

Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Qualifications
Masters Degree in Nursing (APRN)
Current CT License
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) - Preferred
1-3 years of experience in Maternal Child Health or Family Practice
Excellent communication Skills
Knowledge of ICD 9 / ICD 10 codes
Bilingual a plus!
