Hartford HealthCare's Hartford Hospital is seeking a nurse practitioner (APRN) or physician assistant to join a very enthusiastic team in the cardiac ICU and cardiac stepdown units. The successful candidate will provide holistic, high quality and cost-effective critical care for patients admitted to the Cardiac Intensive Care and the Cardiac Step Down Units at Hartford Hospital and support their transition of care across the continuum. The ideal candidate would excel in communication, interpersonal skills, and clinical expertise. This practitioner will also participate in the medical management of patients with ventricular assist devices.

Nurse Practitioner (APRN) / Physician Assistant will participate in daily teaching rounds and will engage in independent decision-making regarding the health care of individuals admitted to our critical care units. This position reports to Medical Director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

Advanced Practitioners participate in the medical management of patients with ventricular assist devices (VADs), engage in independent decision-making, and participate in teaching rounds. Will report to the Medical Director of the Cardiac ICU.

Advanced Practitioner Requirements:

Nurse Practitioners (APRN) positions require National certification in Advanced Practice, MSN, and current CT Nurse Practitioner (APRN) License or eligible required. Physician Assistants (PA) positions require current CT Physician Assistants (PA) License and Board certification or eligible. All disciplines require the demonstrated ability to positively interact with medical and nursing staff. Critical Care experience in Medicine and/or Cardiology is preferred. AGACNP board certification and/or critical care AP experience
