Summary
Provides quality, holistic and cost-effective advanced practice care for patients, families, and others in the transplant surgical and medical population and participates in the surgical and medical management of patients to achieve and/or maintain optimal health status, manage disease and reduce risk of illness.
Duties will include, patient management and crisis intervention on the surgical and critical care units primarily including,but not limited to, the pre and post kidney and liver transplant and end stage organ failure patient population, as well as discharge planning, and in-patient and emergency department consultations.
This position may require first-assisting in the operating room and skill development with procedures such as dialysis and central venous catheter line placements, liver and renal transplant biopsies, and paracentesis and thoracentesis.
The position also requires handling after-hours patient calls and triaging the calls as indicated.
This is a 40 hour/3 shift position which requires day,evening, night, and weekend coverage flexibility.
This is primarily weekday shift coverage,with rotating weekend day coverage and occasional overnight shift coverage responsibilities as needed.

Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or APRN Program
Current Connecticut PA/APRN license
Board Certified or Eligible (If eligible-certification must be accomplished within 3 months of hire). Masters Degree required.
Demonstrated ability of positive interaction with the medical/nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. This position works closely with surgical residents. Surgical experience preferred but will consider new graduate.
