Fairview Health Services is seeking aPhysician Assistant (PA) to join Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care at our Burnsville location.

The PA, in collaboration with physicians and part of an interdisciplinary team, engages in independent decision making about health care needs of their own (co-managed) patient panel. Assess patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, make diagnoses, and initiate and manage treatment plans including prescribing medications. While maintaining a focus on health promotion and disease prevention, the PA will manage chronic disease conditions ensuring continuity of care for individuals in the communities served.

Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care brings orthopedic and sports medicine specialists together to blend the best in conservative and surgical treatment for muscle and joint problems. Work collaboratively with primary care sports medicine physicians. Collaborate with other sports medicine physicians in the community. Work alongside orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists, physical therapists, chiropractors and athletic trainers onsite at our clinic. Team members also cover high school football on Friday nights in the fall and provide coverage for MN State High School League tournaments throughout the year.

Practice Details:

Provide outpatient care at Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care in Burnsville.
Patient encounters average 20-22 patients per day.
Work collaboratively with a large network of both primary care and specialty physicians throughout the Fairview Medical Group practice, including partners at the University of Minnesota, which includes many subspecialists through an extensive outreach programs, which include: Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Spine, Radiology, Neurology, ENT, Podiatry, Pain Medicine and many more.
We have a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC).
Expectation of 1 evening per week and 1 in 4 Saturdays
Patients requiring hospitalization are admitted to the hospitalist service at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN.
Call Coverage: 1 in 8 weeks
Openings: 1.0 FTE

Position Qualifications:

A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Have a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. Be eligible or certified through NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges. Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.

Preferred Qualifications:

PreviousSports Medicinecare experience preferred.
