Fairview Northland Medical Center Hospitalist Team, which currently consists of four physicians, seeks an additional colleague that is Board Certified/Board Eligible in Med/Peds or Family Medicine, to join their practice. Typical workload to include rounding, discharges, admits and consults during the daytime shift; admits, cross-cover, and occasional discharges or rounding on evening shifts; and back-up for on-site advanced practice hospitalist provider (APP) by Physician pager call overnight with possible occasional need to return to hospital overnight. Hospitalist Physician also serves as attending physician for medical patients in Observation status and as consultant for co-management of surgical patients as requested. Physician is expected to be competent in management of inpatients including children, healthy newborns, adults and critically ill adult patients (with collaboration with Intensivist by TeleICU when needed).

Practice Details:

Average hospitalist census: 13 per day (expected to grow)
Round on approximately 10-15 patients on day shift, admit/consult on approximately 4-8 patients per afternoon/evening shift with afternoon rounding when needed and occasional afternoon/evening discharges
Collaborate with TeleICU Critical Care physicians (located at Fairview Southdale hospital)
Patients consist of 90% adults, 10% pediatrics (about 100-120 pediatric hospitalizations per year)
Current hospitalist schedule is evolving. After adding a fifth hospitalist Physician, anticipated schedule would rotate between day shifts and afternoon/evening shifts with overnight pager call in a probable 5 week block with equitable distribution of different shifts, weekends, and Holidays amongst the Physician hospitalist group.

Position Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Internal Medicine/Pediatric or Family Medicine residency training program and Board Certified/Board Prepared with the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association. Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure. Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota. Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges. Maintain certification in ACLS, PALS (or equivalent), and NRP.
