Regional Health Rapid City Hospital is seeking to find a Physician Advisor to conduct clinical case reviews referred by case management staff, other healthcare professional or health plans to meet regulatory requirements and in accordance with the Hospital's objectives for assuring quality care and effective and efficient utilziation of health services.

Part of this Physician Advisors role is to teach, consult and advise other physicians and the Case Management Department on matters regarding physician practice patterns, documentation, over-and-under utilization of resources, medical necessity, compliance rules and regulations, collaboration and relationship development with payors and the community.

The Physician Advisor will also facilitate physician support and execution for Case Managment department initiatives by promoting effective and efficient physician documentation to support patients' levels of care, billing status, and appropriateness of Medicare Severity-Diagnosis Related Group Assignments.

Minimum of 3 or 5 years of experience as a practicing physician and utilization management experience preferred. Must have a solid understanding of the business and financial considerations of healthcare organizations, including but limited to, excellent analytical skills, data aggregation, analysis, interpretation, and application. Effective communication skills both written and verbal; ability to effectively communicate with physicians, payers and hospital staff in a non-confrontational manner is a must!
