University of Minnesota Physicians seeks 1 Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a weekend casual position for the Hematology / Oncology Hospitalist Team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

The Certified NP/PA works in collaboration with physicians, nurses and administrative staff to provide comprehensive health care to adult hematology and oncology patients. The NP/PA will engage in independent decision making about health care needs; managing the care of patients hospitalized with complex acute health problems. Diagnose, prescribe medications and interventions, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, coordinate the interdisciplinary health care team, plan and coordinate patient discharge, rehabilitation, home health care and follow-up; ensuring continuity of care for individuals within the hospital setting.

Practice Details:

Casual position (0.2 FTE).
Participate in daily rounding of hematology-oncology patients on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (Monday optional).
10 hour shifts (7am-5pm) Saturdays and Sundays. 8 hour shift on Mondays (optional).
Open to applicants who can work every/other weekend.
Collaborate with attending physicians, hospitalists, NP/PAs, consultants andmembers of the multidisciplinary team.
Responsible for assisting with admissions.
Malpractice insurance is provided

Position Qualifications:

A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Nurse Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Have a current MN RN license and be approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Be certified through ANCC or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous inpatient / hospitalist experience is preferred.
