Experienced Neonatal Nurse Practioners (NNP)

South Chicago

Per Diem and Full time

Advocate Childrens Medical Group seeks experienced local Neonatology Nurse Practiconers (NNP) for our Special Care Nursery, located at Advocate Trinity Hospital, in south Chicago. Join a team of dedicated NNPs for 24/7 coverage for 24 hour shifts.

The primary responsibility of the NNP is the management of noncritical and critically ill neonatal patients in the delivery room and nursery. Clinical functions include: performing history and physical exams, medical record documentation, conducting approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory & diagnostic studies and professional consultations, prescribing medications, providing direct patient care in collaboration with the designated supervising physician and ensuring appropriate outpatient follow up for newborns. In addition to contributing to excellence in patient and family-centered care, the NPP participates in teaching, precepting, quality improvement initiatives, and provides leadership to the organization and medical profession. Advocate Trinity Hospital is home to a vulnerable urban population and is committed to the serving the needs of the local population.

Standard hours of operations are 24/7 .Shifts are 24 hours in duration. Shifts start at 7AM daily. Approximately 80 hours per pay period. Candidates who desire part time per diem work will also be considered. No outpatient duties are required. The great majority of the time will be spent on direct inpatient care and delivery room resuscitation. The NNP will round with the supervising neonatologist by phone/telemedicine technology at least daily. There is no on call

We require: Masters Degree in Nursing. Three years clinical experience in area of NNP specialty. Completed accredited graduate-level education program. Passed a national certification examination for Nurse Practitioner. Advanced clinical knowledge and skills for direct patient care. Education that prepares him/her with the responsibility and accountability to promote healthy lifestyles and to assess, diagnose, manage patient problems, including the use of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies. Demonstrated proficiency in the analysis of data, role autonomy Demonstrates greater depth and breadth of knowledge with registered nursing competency as the foundation. Current Illinois APN License. Current Illinois Registered Nurse license. Current Illinois Controlled Substances License
