Nurse Practitioner Palliative Care

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic Nurse Practitioner to join our growing interdisciplinary palliative care program. The practitioner will function as a member of the Palliative Medicine team to provide compassionate palliative care support to patients and families dealing with serious illness.

Hartford Hospital is an 867 bed tertiary care academic medical center, Level 1 Trauma Center, accredited Stroke Center, accredited Chest Pain Center and referral hospital for the Hartford Healthcare network. Hartford Hospital has developed the only organization wide Office of Advanced Practice- the first of its kind in acute care in New England. The OAP was formed to:
1. Provide a centralized platform for APRNs and Physician Assistants to forward their professional development
2. Tackle matters of common interest in advanced practice
3. Provide opportunities to engage in forwarding the position and interests of the Advanced Practice group
4. Improve Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant job satisfaction across the institution
5. Further elevate and promote the reputation of Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants in the medical community and institution
6. Engage with regional training programs to form closer partnerships, provide greater opportunity to students for clinical rotations, and provide more outreach for recruitment

Requirements: A strong, collaborative work ethic. Strong communication skills. Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program. CT License and board certified. Previous experience working with palliative medicine/hospice patients is preferred.

Reports to: Ross Albert, MD PHD, Chief , Division of Palliative Medicine.
Shift: Fulltime; 9am-5pm; Monday - Friday with shared off-hours on call coverage by phone and potential shared weekend rotations.
