Owatonna Hospital, located south of the Twin Cities, offers inpatient and outpatient orthopedic, general, urology, plastic, ENT and ophthalmologic surgical services; inpatient mental health; birthing center; emergency medicine; and rehabilitation services through Courage Kenny Rehabilitation InstituteTM. With 331 employees, 163 physicians and 43 staffed beds, Owatonna Hospital serves approximately 42,000 inpatients and outpatients annually. The hospital is connected to Mayo Clinic Health System Owatonna and Koda Living Community, an 80-bed long- and short-term care facility.
Responsible to maintain at least a part time clinical practice in order to maintain clinical credibility and to monitor the day-to-day functioning of the clinical programs
Provide a model of clinical excellence for staff
Responsible for the overall quality of clinical care rendered at assigned sites
Work with Clinic Manager and Director to set clinical practice parameters
Responsible for the clinical functioning of the physicians, psychologists, and nurses at assigned sites
Overall supervision of clinical practice provided at assigned sites
Provide direct clinical consultations to staff as needed
Ensure that all physicians and psychologists are properly credentialed and licensed
Monitor daily aspects of the delivery of clinical care at assigned sites, ensuring with the Site Manager, quality of care, utilization review and patient complaint resolution
Administrative and managerial functions
This position requires a Medical Doctorate degree (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine.
At least three years post-residency clinical experience desirable
Management experience of other professionals desirable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Acknowledged leadership skills
Comfort presenting to large audiences and working in a professional team environment
Skills related to quality assurance and improvement desirable
Understanding of managed mental health care systems
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Minnesota
Board certification in psychiatry
Work Schedule Additional Position Details
* day/evening rotation as assigned by unit schedule
*weekend on call 5pm Friday to 8am Monday every 4th week
