Interested in making a difference every day? TriHealth, Mayfield to create $40M neuroscience institute

TriHealth will invest more than $40 million in the creation of a neuroscience institute at Good Samaritan Hospital in partnership with Mayfield Brain & Spine, a doctor group that specializes in brain and spinal surgery. While Mayfield doctors have worked closely with Good Sam since 1937, the new partnership would enhance patient access to the most comprehensive and integrated neurological care in the region.

The expanded partnership with Mayfield, the regions largest neurosurgical group and one of the most respected in the nation further strengthens TriHealths commitment to provide convenient and often life-saving access to unparalleled clinical expertise for patients seeking neurological services.

The partnership would be significant not only for the two organizations but also for patients. Mayfield doctors now treat up to 25,000 patients a year including care for the head, neck and spine as well as patients who have suffered strokes.

Mayfield is aggressively expanding their neurology service at TriHealth to be able to offer in partnership with Mayfield a convenient broad access across the TriHealth system all six hospitals, its major ambulatory facilities and its physician practices.

TriHealth will invest in equipment, specialized staff and facilities to expand upon the systems neuroscience program. A new neuroscience intensive care and step-down unit will be built at Good Samaritan. TriHealth will also invest in new diagnostic, surgical navigation and surgical technologies to ensure patients receive the latest methods of neurological and neurosurgical care and treatment.

Two more neurosurgeons will join Mayfield in the next three months and be dedicated to the TriHealth Neuroscience Institute. TriHealth intends to expand its own neurology service by recruiting up to eight doctors who specialize in such care over the next 24 months.
