The Department of Veteran Affairs Alaska VA Healthcare System (AVAHS) in Anchorage, Alaska is currently seeking Board-Certified/Board-Eligible internists for full time hospitalist positions. The hospitalist will provide services to inpatients at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) VA/DoD Joint Venture (JV) Hospital located adjacent to the VA Outpatient Clinic in Anchorage, Alaska. Duties include but are not limited to; providing a full range of staff physician services for inpatient beneficiaries including initiating orders for lab work and x-rays, prescribing medications and consulting with specialist and sub-specialists from the staff. The physician shall work with other specialists and primary care physicians. The physician will support the inpatient service at JBER JV Hospital covering the intensive care unit and medical ward, and doing internal medicine consultations and inpatient/outpatient procedures. The shift requirement will be 16-18 inpatient shifts per month between the hours of 8:00am 6:00pm (day shift) and 6:00pm 8:00pm (evening shift), including holidays and weekends.
