Job Description

Academic Pulmonary Critical Care in Roanoke, Virginia. Carilion Clinic is seeking additional Pulmonary / Critical Care physicians for its growing department of Pulmonary / Critical Care / Environmental and Sleep Medicine. This is a clinical/academic position with responsibilities to cover ICU as well as inpatient and outpatient pulmonary services. Ideal candidates will have at least five years of experience after fellowship and a background in academic medicine and research.

Roanoke Memorial Hospital is a tertiary referral center where you will have a varied array of interesting pathology. The department is heavily involved in teaching, and all our physicians have appointments through the new VTC Medical School. A recently established and ACGME accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship is also part of the section.

The faculty is composed of 11 individuals, and we cover all areas of pulmonary medicine, including Interventional Pulmonology. We also run the area's largest network of accredited Sleep Centers. Additionally, we have a long standing tradition in the area of bedside ultrasonography, with Carilion Clinic being recognized as a national leader in this field.

Sophisticated resources include state-of -the-art ICU equipment, new bronchoscopic equipment (including EBUS and rigid bronchoscopy), and an over 700 + acute-care bed hospital, the second largest hospital in Virginia. Additionally, we have an advanced EMR for outpatient connectivity and communication to other Carilion practices. A large outpatient clinic allows for and excellent work environment.

The incoming physician will be part of a large collegial group. Weekly educational conferences and interaction with other specialties allow us to deliver top notch care to all of our patients.
