Join a team of two OSF physicians giving state of the art High Accuity (greater than 80% General Inpatient) program at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. The interdisciplinary team includes RNs Nursing Assistants, pastoral care, counseling support, bereavement, social work, volunteers and therapy dogs.
This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in palliative education at all levels, including medical and nursing students, residents, and development of a Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship program.
Designed to be the ideal home away from home, the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home is a place for patients to come for pain management and/or symptom control before transitioning back to home.
The OSF Hospice Home allows terminally ill patients to receive 24-hour comfort care in a peaceful, serene setting. It is the first hospice home in central Illinois and only the fourth such facility in the state of Illinois.
There is opportunity for this physician to practice in multiple settings including outpatient palliative care, community hospice, and inpatient palliative care if desired.
Each physician sees an average of 6-8 patients per day and usually performs 1- 2 consults daily.
The 40 hours are exempt. Call averaging 2 nights per week and one weekend per month is built into the salary.
Requirements: HPM Board Certification or eligibility, with a requirement to certify within the first two years of employment. Prefer fellowship trained and interest in teaching and clinical research.
