The Childrens Hospital of Illinois is seeking a Pediatric Surgeon and Assistant Professor with the University of Illinois College of Medicine, for a growing practice in Peoria, IL.

Supported by a robust and growing referral base of over 120 Pediatric Sub-Specialists, over 68 OSF Medical Group practice locations in Illinois and over 800 physicians on staff at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center; a Level I Trauma Center.

CHOI is the primary pediatric teaching facility for UICOMP and is a 132-bed facility that offers over 50 pediatric programs and services. These programs represent over 120 pediatric specialists in 24 different disciplines, including the second largest pediatric surgery program in Illinois. CHOI is the only full service tertiary hospital for children in downstate Illinois. It is a designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Pediatric Critical Care Center, Regional Perinatal Center and Maternal Fetal center. Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Congenital Heart Center with 2 CV surgeons. Childrens Oncology Group Site and St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.

State of the art eight story, 440,000 square foot, Childrens Hospital opened in August 2010 integrating childrens inpatient services within one building.

Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center is a world class 67,000 square foot simulation center with robust research funding support for simulation based research and simulation education.

High percentage of index cases; full complement of complex minimally invasive equipment including robotics capability.

UICOMP supports thriving education programs with approximately 32 categorical pediatric residents and 33 combined medicine-pediatrics residents. The Department of Pediatrics has 71 faculty members covering most pediatric subspecialties and primary care. The Pediatric Surgery service has full time resident coverage from two General Surgical Residency Training Programs.

Must be board certified or eligible in Pediatric Surgery; be eligible for an Illinois license; have strong teaching abilities and interest in clinical research.
