New Cardiothoracic Surgery Opportunity in Springfield, Illinois - 90 Minutes from St. Louis

Prairie Cardiovascular, the largest Cardiology practice in Illinois and Missouri, is currently seeking an additional BE/BC Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join their expanding cardiology practice in Springfield, Illinois. Prairie Cardiovascular is located at Prairie Heart Institute on the campus of St. John's Hospital. Prairie is a recognized cardiovascular leader in Illinois with 69 physicians (cardiologists, CT surgeons, vascular internist) who have been providing high quality heart & vascular care for over 30 years. Prairie is the only Illinois cardiology practice outside of Chicago doing TAVRs. Prairie also has a well-established Prairie Vascular Fellowship.


Perform a full range of cardiothoracic procedures
Work closely with two experienced CT surgeons with call of 1:3
Work out of single hospital with strong 16-hospitalist program
Work cohesively with a team of MLPs to deliver full scope patient care
Prairie values physician autonomy and encourages active participation in this physician-led organization.
Prairie promotes excellent quality of life and a collaborative work environment.
Prairie physicians created nationally recognized Stat Heart & CME Programs.
Prairie also has a well-established clinical research program through the nationally recognized Prairie Education & Research Cooperative
Prairie is affiliated with Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), a large mult-institutional health care system, that sponsors 13 hospitals in 12 communities in Illinois and Wisconsin.
St. John's Hospital opened a new Surgery Center with 16 new surgical suites. This $162 million construction project links St. John's Pavilion (medical office building) to the hospital's patient tour and Prairie Heart Institute. This creates a seamless floor plan that puts all surgery services including Cardiac, Pediatric and Main Surgery together. St. John's new Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC), located on the second of the Pavilion, features separate areas for pre and post-op care, including several private rooms.
