Profile

General Introduction
------------
Kaiser Permanente (KP) is a unique organization that represents an integrated bond between Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, the insurer, and Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG), the deliverer of health care.

The mission of our organization is to enhance the quality of care of every member and to improve the health of our communities. Our vision is based upon the four tenets of the KP Promise quality you can trust, caring with a personal touch, convenient and easy service, and affordability. Our work each day is guided by nine values - Integrity, Partnership, Diversity, Accountability, Flexibility, Innovation, Quality, Service, and Results. By consistently practicing our values, we naturally create the positive experiences our members and others expect of us. We treat our members with the understanding they deserve and the expertise they trust, as we partner with them to maintain their health.

SCPMG is fortunate to have a stability of more than 50 years. We have 3,500 partner physicians and each medical center is represented by two to three elected board members and an area associate medical director. Together, we practice state of art medicine that is aligned with our quality, service, and access goals.

Kaiser Permanente's new comprehensive information technology system, Health Connect, is being implemented across our region. HealthConnect, which features electronic medical records, will ensure that our physicians have the information they need to provide excellent care to patients.

SCPMG prides itself on attracting outstanding physicians. We offer them an opportunity to have sustained, fulfilling careers in their practices and they enjoy the benefits of a large, stable medical group. We also offer opportunities for physicians to broaden their skills, participate in the governance of our Medical Group, and for some, take on additional clinical or administrative activities.

Our focus is on the future of medicine, but we continue to value the time-honored traditions of professionalism, a strong commitment to our self-governed group practice - and most of all -we hold an abiding love for the practice of medicine.

Continuing Education
--------------
Educational Leave is granted for the mutual benefit of the individual physician and SCPMG. It must be used for bona fide programs, such as attending educational meetings, taking courses, or participating in university medical teaching. Educational Leave may be taken to study for specialty or subspecialty Board exams. Educational Leave must be approved in advance by the Chief of Service and the Area Associate Medical Director.
