The Fairview Medical Group is seeking a BC/BE physician to serve as our Medical Specialty Regional Director. The position is a combined clinical and administrative role, with 0.6FTE as a practicing physician in a non-Primary Care, medical subspecialty (non-surgical). Preferred specialties include Neurology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, and Pulmonary Medicine, but all medical subspecialties will be considered.

The clinical practice will primarily be ambulatory, where the provider will perform the full range of clinical assessment and management for their specialty. There will be two clinic locations, one in the north metro, and one in the south metro of Minneapolis. Opportunities for inpatient call coverage will be available depending on the specialty. However, the primary focus of the clinical component of this position will be ambulatory.

The administrative 0.4 FTE portion of the position is as the Medical Specialty Regional Director. This leadership role will serve to be the medical lead for all of the employed medical subspecialists in the Fairview Medical Group. The complement of which currently includes Neurology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Allergy, and Sleep Medicine.

Responsible for being the liaison between the Fairview senior leadership and the provider group. The leadership role also includes interaction with relevant departments in the University of Minnesota, and community.
The role encompasses strategic development of the entire Medical Specialty area.
The position encompasses the design and development of quality measures, management of compensation, recruitment, and programmatic offerings.
Work closely with Clinic Administrators and assure that systems and processes that support the patient / physician and clinical encounter and the overall patient experience are performing at a high level of proficiency.
Jointly with other clinic providers and through Site and Network operating committees, ensures that community and Fairview Group Practice standards/guidelines of medical practice are maintained.
Actively promotes the provision of quality health care and excellent patient service, to implement and execute system strategies within appropriate clinic units.
With clinic administrator, is jointly accountable for day to day operational performance of clinical area.
We are pursuing major innovations in the delivery of Medical Specialty care, including Evisits, video consultations, and design of best practice algorithms and system initiatives relevant to the Medical Specialties.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine residency training program and Medical Specialty Fellowship program, Board Certified/Board Prepared with the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association. Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure. Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota. Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
