The East Carolina Heart Institute at Vidant Medical Center is seeking a Board Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to assist with acute patient care of thoracic surgery patients. The successful candidate will be part of a team working with 4 thoracic surgeons, as well as general surgery residents. Job responsibilities include participation in daily patient rounds with the interdisciplinary team, admission history and physical examinations, ongoing patient assessments and post-operative patient care, as well as pre and postoperative care in the clinic. This position will also require close interface with the cardiac surgery provider group-both MDs and NP/PAs, with some occasional cross coverage responsibilities. Opportunities may also exist for some assisting in the operating room as the need arises, as well as participation in program growth and development within the region.

Requirements include:
Graduate from a PA or NP program approved by the NC Board of Medical Examiners or NC Joint Subcommittee
PAs must have board approval to practice medical acts
NPs must be licensed as a RN
Surgery experience or ICU experience as PA or NP preferred

Primarily Tuesday - Friday with 1 out of 4 weekend rotation with subsequent days off during the week.
