The newly established UTHealth Rio Grande Valley is recruiting a Thoracic Surgeon. Candidate must be a surgical specialist in diseases of the chest involving the esophagus, lungs and soft tissues. Chosen individual will likely operate in multiple hospitals in the Rio Grande Valley initially at Doctors Hospital Renaissance and the VA. The position is 80% clinical. In addition, the individual will be expected to teach general surgery residents and medical students. Further, the chosen individual will start a large animal research program in esophageal cancer and transplantation.

Current Board certification in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. Viable candidate will have expertise in pulmonary and esophageal surgery. VATS and Robotic surgical skills are preferred.
Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Texas medical license, and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery UTRGV School of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments. Salary and academic rank will be awarded commensurate with credentials and qualifications.
