Sutter East Bay Medical Group SEBMG is recruiting a licensed independent nurse practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the preoperative patient in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations. The NP follows the nursing standards of care regarding assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation to patient status. Preoperative preparation and clinical management is conducted in collaboration with other health care team members, specifically the Anesthesiologist Consultant and/or Medical Director.

Essential responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
Functions independently to perform in-person or phone evaluations on all scheduled perioperative clinic patients (Complete medical history, Perform physical exam if in-person evaluation, Medicine reconciliation, Complete preop nursing assessment, Review advance directive, Scan outside documentation in EHR)
Presents medically complicated patients to anesthesiologist consult
Provides appropriate patient and family education
Performs lab draws or ekg if tech unavailable
Formulates an assessment and plans to prepare the patient for surgery, including ordering and following up on diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patients medical problems or age specific needs
Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities in preparation for surgery
Enters preop orders into the EHR
Monitors the effectiveness of interventions
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members when needed and makes appropriate referrals
Facilitates staff, patient, and family decision-making by providing educational tools

Experience Preferred

5 years experience as a nurse practitioner

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Nursing school
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Current California License as a Registered Nurse
Current California License as a Nurse Practitioner
Possess Furnishing Number from the State of California, Board of Registered Nursing
Possess a DEA registration number issued by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration to furnish Controlled
Substances, Scheduled II through V
Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent written/verbal interpersonal communication and problem solving skills
Eligible for hospital privileges
