Chief, Division of Pediatric Cardiology

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Childrens Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is recruiting a full-time academic pediatric cardiologist to assume the Chief of the Division. This is an Associate or Professor level faculty position. Candidates should have a well-developed, scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding appropriate to complement and expand existing expertise in the department.

The Childrens Hospital Foundation Heart Center currently consists of six full-time pediatric cardiologists providing inter-disciplinary care for infants, children and young adults and a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon who is the Director of the CFH Heart Center. There is an ACGME-accredited pediatric cardiology fellowship training program. There are excellent opportunities for collaboration with colleagues at the VCU Pauley Heart Center.

- Serve as the administrative head of the Division of Cardiology
- Responsible for the implementation of the long-term divisional plans and day-to-day outcomes
- Provide direct clinical care
- Involvement in QA/QI activities
- Didactic and bedside teaching of medical students, Residents, and Fellows
- Mentorship andcareer development for members of the division
- Expected to sustain a nationally recognized research program
- Sustain extramurally funded research programs


- Board certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology
- Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21 years

- A well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding
- Demonstrated excellent teaching skills
- Previous experience in an academic medical center
- Previous program/divisional leadership experience
- National / international recognition
