Vice Chair of Education


The Childrens Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine seeks a senior clinician educator to serve as the inaugural Barry V. Kirkpatrick Professor and Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Pediatrics. The Vice Chair will oversee the UME, GME, and CME educational programs in the Department of Pediatrics. The candidate will also assist in thefurther development of educational conferences, growth and support of existing training programs, and the development of faculty, residents, and fellows as clinician educators.

Towards this goal, the Department of Pediatrics aims to expand its educational programs under the leadership of a dedicated Vice-Chair to serve as a champion of this effort and a liaison between the department chair, residency program director, and faculty.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


- Candidates should possess strong administrative and leadership skills with significant experience in education and clinical operations at an academic medical center
- The successful candidate for this position will direct a 15 plus faculty academic program encompassing research, training, and patient care
- The Division of General Medicine and Primary Care incorporates Ambulatory Medicine, Womens Health, and the Division of General Medicine at the affiliated Veterans Affairs Medical Center
- Core activities of the Division include staffing and management of three clinics, and the primary care residency track

QUALIFICATIONS:


Candidate must possess M.D. or M.D. and Ph.D. degree
- Board certified in Internal Medicine
- Possess a record of demonstrated teaching, managerial and leadership skills
- National recognition for teaching
- Formal training in medical education (e.g. coursework, professional development)
- Eligible for appointment at the rank Associate or Professor
