The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS), Las Vegas Nevada, is recruiting for Staff Psychiatrists for our Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Team, reporting to the Chief of Behavioral Health. The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System is recruiting for Staff Psychiatrists to fill vacancies within our Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Teams. Joining our team allows you to work in a multidisciplinary multi team setting! As a member of this team you get to work half of the time in PCMHI and the other half of your time will be spent as part of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP).


PCMHI Duties: Responsible for treating Veterans with more acute mental health issues, while working directly with Patient Aligned Care Teams to facilitate Veterans' primary care treatment. Provide immediate, direct and on-site access for psychiatric consultation, assessment and mental health treatment as clinically indicated. Work within a multidisciplinary team matrix to actively collaborate, and, at times, lead, a multidisciplinary clinical staff assigned to the Behavioral Health/Mental Health Clinics, and coordinates Veteran care with other clinical and administrative supporting services. Provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions supported by the psychiatric community standards of care; implements and meets performance requirements for quality and timeliness of clinical care; employs recover-oriented interventions; and successfully completed other clinical duties as assigned. Will also participate in the internal student training program.


BHIP Duties: Responsible for treating Veterans with more chronic mental health issues, by providing immediate, direct and on-site access for psychiatric consultation, assessment and mental health treatment as clinically indicated. Provide coverage for the same day walk-in outpatient clinic and respond to referrals from the Inpatient Medical Units. While working within a multidisciplinary team matrix, will actively collaborate, and, at times, lead, a multidisciplinary clinical staff assigned to the Behavioral Health/Mental Health Clinics, and coordinate Veteran care with other clinical and administrative supporting services. Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions supported by the psychiatric community standards of care; implements and meets performance requirements for quality and timeliness of clinical care; employs recovery-oriented interventions; and successfully completes other clinical duties as assigned. Will also participate in the internal student training program.

Work Schedule: Various work schedules will be considered. Position may require occasional nights, weekends, holidays and extended shifts as needed to meet patient care. Candidate will be required to provide on-call duties.


Competitive Salary offer will be commensurate with physicians qualifications, credentials and experience, as recommended by a Compensation Panel review process and approved by Medical Center Director/CEO


Basic Requirements:

Board Certified / Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of
the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens
in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of 26 days per leave year (1 day per pay period).
