Hospitalist Medical Director Needed!


Seeking IM or FP experienced hospitalist medical director to manage our in-house program and to provide administrative guidance to a team of six MD's and 1 NP.

Practice Profile:


CMH launched a hospitalist program in 2010 with the assistance of a staffing and recruitment firm. In 2015, CMH ended the staffing agreement and began full recruitment and management of the program in-house. One year later, CMH has successfully recruited 4 physicians and 1 nurse practitioner. Two positions remain to be filled.

The team works 7, 12 hour days, with 7 days off. During the day shift, 2 physicians and 1 nurse practitioner are available on site providing coverage, rounding, and admitting. One provider covers the evening shift. Shifts currently start at 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

CMH budgets $5,000 per provider for CME, $1,500 for dues and subscriptions, Up to Date software accounts for each provider, lab coats, and temporary housing for up to 3 months.

VCU CMH is currently constructing a replacement hospital with plans to relocate in November 11, 2017, which will include the opening of a labor and delivery unit. At that time, the hospital will switch to Cerner facility wide, which is the same system used by VCU in Richmond.

The current primary service area is around 90,000, covering Mecklenburg, Lunenburg, and Brunswick Counties with a secondary service area extending into North Carolina.
