Serves as the Service Chief of Neurology Service.
Responsible for managing the full spectrum of Neurology responsibilities, including admission, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and the Emergency Department.
Provides leadership in establishing, coordinating, and integrating accessible quality health care services with multiple disciplines across ECHCS. One of the main purposes of this position is to enhance the health care delivery system for an increasing population of veterans with the objective to improve access to care, continuity of care, and enhance outreach activities within VA and non-VA communities.
In addition to carrying a partial panel, directs all clinical and administrative activities for neurology services across the health care system, including budgetary and fiscal management, human resources management, strategic planning, program management and evaluation, and evaluates the quality of services provided as required (i.e. OPPE and FPPE).
Ensures the clinical and administrative functions are integrated in order to provide optimum utilization of resources.
Participates in leadership discussions, decisions, policy-making, and provides program direction to other executives, medical directors, managers, and assigned personnel.
Formulates policies and operating procedures, ensuring compliance with VA regulations, statutes, and the standards and requirements of various internal and external review bodies.
Assesses the impact of VISN, national and private-sector developments as they relate to Neurology, making change recommendations accordingly.
Develops program evaluation methodology and processes which will ascertain such area as program effectiveness, organizational productivity, operational efficiency and resource utilization.
Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of the Neurology Service in meeting established program goals and objectives. Develops plans for organizational changes accordingly. Thoroughly evaluates proposed program changes, operating procedures and delegations of authority to ascertain impact on current program operations on the VISN and ECHCS operations.
