Hematology/Oncology Medical Director

Lead an established oncology program with a legacy of providing advanced cancer care and pioneering innovative cancer treatments for more than 25 years.
Covenant Health, East Tennessees largest top performing healthcare network, is seeking a medical director for Thompson Oncology Group, the hematology and oncology division of our program, to provide medical expertise and leadership, building on our legacy of pioneering advanced cancer treatments.
The ideal candidate for this position is a successful oncology practitioner with a demonstrated track record of engagement with patients, physician colleagues, system leadership, and quality teams.
Medical Director Responsibilities:

Physician leadership oversight of our team of nine hematologists and oncologists at eight clinics throughout our cancer network
Develop and oversee program goals and initiatives including clinical trials and our patient navigation program
Quality oversight, including serving on the system oncology service line council, cancer committee, and quality committee

Thompson Cancer Survival Center was one of the first facilities in the world to treat patients with intensity-modulated radiation therapy. The Centers downtown location houses a Gamma Knife, which was the first advanced radiosurgery system in Tennessee. Thompsons Center of Excellence for the treatment of Barretts esophagus has introduced new endoscopic treatments and developed new optical technologies for non-invasive detection of cancer and dysplasia. Photodynamic therapy for Barretts esophagus with high grade dysplasia was pioneered in 1990 at our laser center, which was also one of the first institutions to introduce radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for treatment of Barretts esophagus.

They are supported by a comprehensive team of dietitians, genetics counselors, physicists, pharmacists, therapists, technologists, oncology nurses, patient navigators, social workers and many others.
