Saint Alphonsus Medical Group and Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Ontario (SAMC-Ontario) have an excellent full time employment opportunity for an Orthopedic Surgery physician to join a clinic located in Fruitland, Idaho and a hospital-based practice on the campus of SAMC-Ontario located in Ontario, Oregon.

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG), a physician led and accountable 380+ provider multispecialty group practice that seeks a residency trained orthopedic surgeon for a Full-spectrum orthopedic surgery practice. Successful candidates will be committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care and have desires to develop an Orthopedic Surgery practice to support the medical group and the regional surgical needs of the Saint Alphonsus Health System. Preference will be shown to a Fellowship trained applicant in Hand, Foot & Ankle, or Spine surgery with a willingness to take general orthopedic call.

The typical schedule for this opportunity involves a minimum of 32 hours per week of patient contact time to include clinic responsibilities as well as hospital procedures, rounding and consults plus evenings and weekend call. The call is currently 1:3 and is to be shared equitably among other eligible members of the SAMC-O Department of Surgery. A minimum of 7 days of call will be expected per month with the opportunity for additional compensation for extra call days taken.
Requirements for this opportunity include a strong clinical background and completion of an Orthopedic Surgery residency with ABOS Board Certification. This opportunity also requires Oregon and Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SAMC-Ontario and other health system affiliated hospitals as needed to strengthen the Health Systems regional general Orthopedic Surgery program across all the communities we serve as well as an expectation to model our organizations core values of reverence, a commitment to those who are poor, justice, stewardship and integrity.

Cerner PowerChart is utilized in the Inpatient setting as well as computerized scheduling and e-prescribing is available, therefore experience with EHRs is desirable.

Ontario, Oregon with a population of approximately 11,245 residents is the largest city in Malheur County (pop. 31,615) and is located on the eastern edge of Oregon and is one hour from Boise (a mid-sized metro area of 630,000) and midway between Salt Lake City and Portland.

Located on the Snake River, it is part of the area known as Idahos Western Treasure Valley. The geography has spacious, rugged areas as well as prime agricultural growing land. The people in this area come from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those of Japanese, Basque, Mexican, Native American and European descent.

While Ontario serves as the retail, service, and medical center for 167,000 people within a 45-mile radius, the hospitals defined service area is comprised of 70,000 people. The Byway offers views of some of the most rugged and spectacular countryside in eastern Oregon. There are many striking geologic formations, such as vertical towers, pinnacles, and deep gorges, as well as the vibrant pinks, oranges, purples, and reds painted across the sandstone cliffs.

Recreation opportunities abound in Ontario, which has a community aquatic center, 18-hole municipal golf course, movie theater with eight screens, bowling alley, fitness centers, Four Rivers Cultural Center, and over 61 acres of parks, including five municipal parks, one state park, and a skate park. Major local events include the Americas Global Village Festival, Japanese-American Obon Festival, Malheur County Fair, Winter Wonderland Parade, and Basque Dinner & Dance.
