The Department of Hematology Oncology at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans is searching for an experienced physician leader to serve as the Section Head for the Hematology/Marrow/Stem Cell Section of Hematology Oncology at our academic, multi-specialty group practice.

The successful candidate will a team of five physicians and four advanced practice providers who divide their time between direct patient care, teaching, clinical and translational research. Candidates with training/certification in Hematology Oncology are preferred.

The Section Head will lead the Malignant Hematology Transplant disease-specific program at the Benson Cancer Center with the responsibility for both clinical and research activities as well as the oversight of the FACT accredited BMT program.

The position is based at The Gayle & Tom Benson Cancer Center, located on the campus of Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, and organized by disease specific programs on a matrix model. As part of our Centers of Excellence strategy, Ochsner embarked on a 10 year strategic initiative in 2016 to double the size of its Cancer program. The plan calls for substantial investment in faculty, facilities and research programs with a goal of becoming top 50 cancer programs nationally.

Ochsner has a FACT accredited joint adult and pediatric transplant program performing Autologous and Allogeneic (related, unrelated donors, Haploidentical and cord blood) transplants. Ochsner is also the tertiary Leukemia referral center for 28 hospitals in the Ochsner health system and network.
