The Sleep Specialist will manage complex sleep patients in the ambulatory setting working longitudinally with other sleep specialists in both DSA and NSA regions. Collectively they will work closely with the Attended Sleep Labs in Martinez and Vallejo as well as the Ambulatory Sleep Labs in Martinez, Vallejo and Vacaville to coordinate care for the DSA/ NSA Sleep patients. Sleep patients will be referred to the Sleep Clinic after initial evaluation by pulmonary, neurology, psychiatry or respiratory therapy. Referrals from primary care physicians will be screened by a sleep specialist over the phone prior to being seen in the Sleep Clinic
The sleep specialist will roughly spend half the time in the sleep clinic and the other half reading attended sleep studies for Martinez and Vallejo sleep labs. Attended sleep studies can be accessed remotely from either cites. The time allocation will approximately be spread equally between the DSA and NSA and all efforts will be made to avoid travelling between service areas within any given day.The Sleep Specialist must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine. Clinical experience, leadership and management expertise are desirable.
Pulmonary is preferred because a strong understanding of advanced ventilation support would be helpful. This person will be seeing complex patients in the sleep many on devices more complicated than straightforward CPAP treatment, however we are most interested in someone who will be a really good fit for the position.
