WVU School of Medicine, Department of Surgery is actively recruiting a full-time, board certified/board eligible General Surgeon with subspecialty training in Breast Disease.

Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Candidates also must have completed an accredited fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials. Responsibilities will include providing excellent patient care as well as teaching medical students and surgery residents with the potential for training Fellows in the future. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.

The Department of Surgery is committed to the mission of building an outstanding academic department and to recruiting highly qualified faculty to accomplish this goal. Breast cancer patients presenting to the WVU Cancer Institute are evaluated and treated in a multidisciplinary team approach by all subspecialties in our NAPBC- and CoC-accredited center. Our breast care center is an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence with fellowship-trained breast radiologists. In addition, WVU Cancer Institute has recently added Camden Clark Medical Center, Berkley Medical Center and Garrett Regional Medical Center as regional sites, and is undergoing planning efforts with the intention of adding additional 2 3 sites.

U.S. News & World Report has ranked West Virginia University Hospitals #1 in the state for the last several years. Ruby Memorial Hospital is a 531-bed tertiary center that provides the most advanced level of care available to the citizens of West Virginia and bordering states. Major expansion is underway, adding a 10-story tower and an additional 114 licensed beds. WVU Medicine has also opened a three story, 110,000 square foot ambulatory care facility to help address the growing demand for services and has broken ground on an ambulatory surgery center adjacent to the new clinic. The Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center has a full complement of academic programs in the clinical and basic sciences in the WVU School of Medicine.
