Join a team of two physicians and six advance practice providers in an established inpatient palliative care program at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. The interdisciplinary team also includes pastoral care and counseling support.
This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in palliative education at all levels including medical students, multiple residency programs and possible new Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship program.
There is opportunity for flexibility to incorporate hospice support including a hospice home facility, hospice or outpatient palliative care home visits, or a combination into this inpatient palliative care position.
Currently, the physician led interdisciplinary team provides palliative care 24/7 to adult patients within our institution.
Each team (lead by a physician or APN) sees an average of 6-8 patients per day. Each physician or APN provider usually performs 1- 2 consults daily.
The current schedule is 8 hour days, 5 days per week; 1 in 8 weekends. Call is light and shared among the physicians.
Requirements: Hospice and Palliative Medicine Certification or eligibility, with a requirement to certify within the first two years of employment.
