To perform, under the authority and supervision of the staff surgeon, administrative, diagnostics and therapeutic tasks to allow staff attending physician to extend his/her patient care and services. Additionally, the Physician Assistant will act as the patient advocate in the medical care systems service as confidant, advisor, and liaison between patients and physicians.



Reports directly to the staff physician or designated resident for all patient-care-related functions. Charting privileges will be determined by the Procedure and Medical Records Committee as recommended by the staff physician. Practice encompasses evaluation and treatment of diseases of the head, neck and related structures. Deals directly with the medical staff members, nursing personnel and other departments to coordinate patient care requirements.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Must obtain and maintain BLS,

Demonstrates computer literacy, accurate and timely charting via Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Clinical: Inpatient/Outpatient/OR

Minimal Travel as indicated

Participation in the holiday/weekend/call schedule as indicated



The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification or eligibility and Pennsylvania State licensure.
