If you are a detail-oriented Physician Assistant, able to function in changing environment and dedicated to premiere patient care, we are interested in having you join our team at Geisinger Specialty Clinics, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a difference working with patients in the area.



The focus for this position is on medical management of the patient. This position is clinical base only not surgical.



This Physician Assistant, in concert with the attending physician:

- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks leading to a team-based, physician-directed therapeutic plan of care.

- Assists with patient care and management in the clinic and inpatient settings

- Assimilates and interprets data; including history, physical examination, laboratory and radiographic diagnostic tests. This data will be communicated to the attending physician in a reliable and concise fashion.

- Provides continuity of care and advocacy for patients.

- Functions as a patient advocate in the medical care system as a confidant, advisor and liaison between patients, families and medical staff.

- Performs and records H P's.

- Participates in peri-operative care; provides patient education and counseling to patients or guardians regarding the treatment, diagnostic procedures and surgeries. Completes pre-operative admission orders.

- Participates in Inpatient rounds

The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification or eligibility and Pennsylvania State licensure.

Our successful candidate will have a strong desire to work with patients and their families. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrate concern for the health and well-being of others, have superior written and oral communication skills, as well as computer literacy including electronic medical record documentation and the ability to work both as a team member and independently. Must obtain and maintain BLS and ACLS. Surgical experience required.



Some travel may be required to other clinic sites.
