UPMC Hamot is seeking applications for a Vascular Surgeon position within the Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

The ideal candidate must be a board eligible or board certified in Vascular Surgery, and be facile with both open and endovascular procedures. RPVI certification as well as administrative experience is a plus. Recent graduates as well surgeons wishing to relocate are encouraged to apply. Evidence of prior academic achievements is desirable but not required. Candidates must be eligible for a Pennsylvania medical license.

The practice is part of a well established Heart and Vascular Institute that integrates and combines the efforts of Vascular surgeons with their colleagues in Cardiac surgery and Cardiology. It is a fully integrated and self-governing entity within UPMC Hamot. A comprehensive, multidisciplinary Vascular Center, engages vascular surgery with interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, wound clinic and podiatry. There are currently two board certified vascular surgeons with help from some of their cardiac surgery colleagues.

UPMC Hamot is a 450 bed regional referral medical center in Erie PA, a level 2 trauma center with 3 ICUs, critical care medicine and hospitalist services, a 19 room OR, and a separate two suite special procedures lab for peripheral diagnosis and interventions, as well as EVAR, and TEVAR procedures. A third hybrid room is under construction. UPMC is the largest and most respected health care system in Western Pennsylvania. The medical center is located in PAs fourth largest city, and exhibits urban appeal while maintaining a family atmosphere. Located on the shore of Lake Erie, water sports and fishing are very popular. The area is also home to some of the best trout fishing in the region and is well known for spectacular sunsets from its many beaches on Presque Isle, a peninsula with a 13 mile circuit hiking and biking trail. It is a state park area and nature preserve. The city and surrounding area also have highly rated public, private, and parochial schools, several colleges and universities, nature preserves, hiking trails, hunting, a planetarium, zoo, Childrens Museum, as well as several sports venues for minor league hockey, baseball, basketball, and indoor football. If you enjoy theatre and concerts, there are several venues as well, with abundant opportunities to enjoy plays, musicals, and all types of music. The city hosts a myriad of outdoor musical events and festivals all summer long.
