Each year, CareerMD hosts a career-planning and networking reception in Columbus, OH. The first annual Reception took place in 2008 and attracted residents and fellows from top teaching hospitals including Children's Hospital, Grant Medical Center, Mount Carmel, Ohio State University Hospital and Riverside Methodist Hospitals. Additionally, residents from other major teaching hospitals in the area are invited to attend, including those in training in Cincinnati, Dayton, Akron, Barberton, Canton, and Kettering. In 2008, the Columbus Reception attracted 78 job-seeking residents and fellows.

CareerMD Receptions follow a more intimate format than that of the CareerMD Career Fairs. Space is limited, which provides employers with an opportunity for one-on-one discussions with trainees. Each employer is seated at a designated station to facilitate comfortable discussions with residents, fellows, PAs, advanced practice nurses, and/or RNs.

Employers who register to participate may send two representatives. Neither booths nor tabletop displays are permitted, however handouts and giveaways are acceptable.

Career Fair Promotion

CareerMD promotes the Columbus Reception to all teaching hospitals that are within reasonable driving distance of the venue. Most residents and fellows who attend will be in training at local programs, however this event is widely promoted. A list of all teaching hospitals in the Columbus area can be found here.
